A partnership between Andrews Federal Credit Union and Prince George’s County is demonstrating how private-sector organizations can support community development while expanding access to financial resources for residents and businesses.
According to a press release published by CUInsight, Andrews Federal Credit Union contributed $50,000 to support County Executive Aisha Braveboy’s 311 On the Go initiative and increase access to resources, including financial education, for people who live and work throughout Prince George’s County.
The partnership was carried out through Andrews Federal’s Andrews in Action community engagement initiative. During the summer, credit union volunteers participated in free community events across the County that combined recreational activities with opportunities for residents to access financial resources and connect with neighbors and local business partners.
For Prince George’s County’s business community, partnerships of this kind can contribute to a stronger economic ecosystem by connecting financial institutions directly with the communities they serve. Greater access to financial education and trusted financial resources can help residents and entrepreneurs make informed financial decisions, while community events can create additional opportunities for businesses and institutions to build relationships at the neighborhood level.
The initiative also highlights the broader role financial institutions can play in economic development beyond traditional banking services. Collaboration among businesses, financial institutions, government agencies and community organizations can help make resources more accessible while strengthening connections between residents and the organizations investing in Prince George’s County.
Andrews Federal’s investment provides another example of how public-private partnerships can support community engagement and financial empowerment while helping create conditions for broader economic participation across the County.
