The technology is designed to detect potential firearm threats in areas outside stadium entrances, including parking lots and tailgating areas, adding another layer of security for large-scale events.
PerVista’s system uses artificial intelligence to analyze video for potential firearms and then sends detected threats to a 24/7 operations center for human verification. CEO Vennard Wright emphasized to WTOP that the technology is focused on identifying weapons rather than people, with the goal of strengthening public safety while addressing privacy concerns.
For Prince George’s County, PerVista’s growing reach represents more than a technology success story. It illustrates the potential for County-based companies to develop solutions locally, demonstrate them in their own communities, and scale those solutions into larger regional and national markets. The company’s technology is also being used at Bowie State University, where Maryland’s FY2026 capital budget included $200,000 for an AI PerVista security system.

Cloudforce, another County-based technology company, recently announced plans to expand its National Harbor headquarters, retain more than 130 employees, and create 250 new Maryland jobs over five years as it scales its AI platform.
