Today, the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) welcomed top Obama official Michael Michaud, Assistant Secretary for Veterans with the U.S. Department of Labor, as it deployed its second installment of ‘Operation 500’, the Veteran jobs and resource initiative geared toward securing high wage jobs for 500 Prince George’s County Veterans by January 2017. More than 30 private sector employers and resource partners participated in the Jobs and Resource Fair in which 40 Veterans walked away with solid job opportunities. Employers were excited about the amount of talent that the Prince George’s County Veteran community displayed.

In December of 2015, Tami Johnson was at a crossroads. She had completed every task that was supposed to guarantee her success and attainment of the American Dream. She graduated from high school and went on to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in Business Administration. Still, at the end of last year, she had no job prospects and her unemployment benefits were running out. Just when her situation seemed hopeless, she received a phone call that would change her life. Kevin McNutt, a Business Consultant at the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), called Tami to ask if she had recently updated her resume. After further discussion, Mr. McNutt extended an invitation for her to participate in the 'Hire Prince George's' program.
