County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced an appropriation of $11 million to assist accommodation properties that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Hotel Resiliency Relief Fund will provide grants up to $190,339.98 to Prince George’s County-based hotels to promote long-term sustainability and resiliency for business operations, supporting COVID-19 safety measures, and maintaining business operations at a reduced capacity. Per state guidelines, each property will receive a rate equal to $951.70 per room, not to exceed a maximum of $95,169.99; plus, a pro-rata share of remaining grant funds. No property will receive more than, $190,339.98 total.

Applications will be accepted starting January 27, 2021 until February 24, 2021.

Application Eligibility and Requirements

 

Use of Funds: 

Hotel providers may receive a grant of up to $190,339.98 to support COVID costs including personal protection equipment (PPE), payroll, supplies, rent, fixed debt payments, and other business-critical cash operating costs.

The Deadline To Apply Is February 24, 2021

 

Eligibility: 

  • The applicant must be physically located in Prince George's County.

  • Applicants may include Hotels, Motels, Private RV Parks and Bed & Breakfasts in Prince George's County.

  • Must be financially sound and debt-free with the State of Maryland (not under bankruptcy or litigation).

  • Applicants must not be delinquent on any taxes, fees, or other charges which are owed to Prince George’s County.

  • Applicants have incurred financial losses of at least 25% directly, or indirectly caused by the COVID-19 public health pandemic.

  • Must be a for-profit entity. All business formations including corporations, partnerships, cooperatives (co-ops), and sole proprietors are eligible.

  • Recipients of the County’s COVID-19 Business Relief Fund, Legacy Fund, and municipal grant programs are eligible to apply

  • Recipients must be open for business to the public for accommodations no later than March 31, 2021.

  • The primary function of the applicant’s business must be in providing overnight accommodations.

Required Documents:

  • Completed Form Provided in Application Portal

  • Completed online application

  • Evidence of Good Standing (Screenshot/Photo will be accepted)

  • Copy of Voided Check

  • Articles of Incorporation/Organization/Formation

  • W-9 must be provided

 

How To Apply

 

To apply for the Hotel Resiliency Relief Fund, complete an online application by selecting “New Application” Retain your application number for future reference and save your application as you go. If you are unable to complete your application in one session, continue your application by using your application ID number. Attach all required documentation items within the application portal. Once your application has been submitted, you will be unable to make any changes or attach any additional documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Prior to submission of your application, confirm that your business is “Active” and in “Good Standing” by using SDAT’s free search using the link below. Evidence of Good Standing is required to complete the online application.

Notice of Grant & Acceptance

Recipients of a grant will be notified through the email provided on the application. Applicants will certify at the end of the application that all information provided is accurate and true. Grant recipients and the dollar amount of the grant received will be made available to the public.


Grant funds may be reported as taxable income to the businesses.
