MGM News Release MD Supplier Town Hall

National Harbor, MD July 17, 2012 –MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) demonstrated its commitment to Minority-, Women- and Disadvantaged-Owned Business Enterprise (MWDBE) suppliers and contractors during a virtual town hall meeting.

“As the gaming industry's first company to implement a voluntary diversity initiative, MGM Resorts has demonstrated itself as a leader in Diversity and Inclusion, both locally and nationally,” said Phyllis A. James, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer in a meeting hosted by the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation for local businesses regarding the proposed National Harbor casino.

James stated that the company’s leadership and commitment to being a responsible supply chain partner was rooted in the company’s core beliefs, culture, business operations and business systems.

“Since 2001, MGM Resorts has expended $1.2 billion with MWDBE suppliers and an additional $1.6 billion with MWDBE contractors and consultants,” James reported to the more than 100 participants in the forum.

James reviewed case studies of the company’s construction projects for two of its newest resorts and casinos in Detroit and Las Vegas, and shared success stories of MWDBEs that have shown considerable business growth after winning MGM Resorts contracts.

In Detroit, 37 percent of the MGM Grand’s construction budget was awarded to 76 minority contractors with contracts exceeding $172 million. In Las Vegas, 200 minority contractors were involved in the construction of CityCenter, resulting in a total of more than $700 million. Since the inception of the company’s Supplier Diversity Program in 2001, MGM Resorts has contracted with more than 1,000 MWDBE suppliers and contractors.

“MGM Resorts’ solid track record of working with local and minority-owned businesses is a sure sign of the tremendous economic benefit the company would bring to Prince George’s County with the building of a National Harbor resort casino,” said Gwen McCall, President and CEO of Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation.

MGM Resorts has been recognized by leading diversity publications including: DiversityInc, Black Enterprise and Hispanic Business Magazines for its commitment to Diversity and Inclusion. The company has additionally been named as the “Corporation of the Decade” and to the “Minority Business Hall of Fame” by the Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council.”
