(EDC President &CEO Jim Coleman (far right) presenting to the Prince George's County Senate Delegation in Annapolis, MD)Annapolis, MD, February 12, 2016 - EDC President and CEO Jim Coleman welcomed the opportunity to speak to the Prince George's Senate Delegation in Annapolis today. In the midst of the voting sessions, committee hearings and floor debates, members of the Senate Delegation, chaired by Senator Jim Rosapepe (D-21) invited Mr. Coleman to learn more about the programs and services the Economic Development Corporation provides to the residents of Prince George's County.

"Our mission at the EDC is to retain and grow our 16,000 existing employers by identifying their current needs and providing low-cost solutions to aid their expansion," said Mr. Coleman. "We utilize the same strategy to attract new companies to the County. We ain't grovelin'! We have all confidence that our value proposition is incomparable to any in the region. So as we march into D.C. and Northern Virginia to 'free' high wage sector employers, we know that Prince George's County is the best place in the world to do business."

Mr. Coleman provided the Delegation with an overview of how the EDC is closing the gaps on key economic indicators for Prince George's County. The EDC's 'We Care' retention blitz, 'Operation 535' attraction initiative and its workforce development training and placement results met with nods of approval from the panel. The Delegation was pleased to hear of the outreach the EDC is doing in the County, across the Potomac and across the Pacific.

"It is obvious that you have been a wonderful asset to Prince George's County," said Senator Joanne C. Benson (D-24). "The enthusiasm that you have shown today is absolutely gratifying. I look forward to working with you on other issues in my district in the near future."

The Economic Development Corporation is hosting Prince George's County's International Business Export Forum next Wednesday, February 17th from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce. Companies' intent on doubling their revenue through exporting and tapping into the incredible markets outside of the United States should attend this high-impact event.
