County Executive Baker Launches Prince George's International!

Oxon Hill, MD - Today, Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jim Coleman joined County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III as he announced the County's new global marketing initiative, Prince George's International! Joined by a group of local and international business leaders, non-profit organizations and educational leaders at the AC Hotel by Marriott at National Harbor, this initiative will pull together all of the County's international marketing, outreach and partnerships to brand Prince George's County as an international investment and tourism destination.  County Executive Baker and Mr. Coleman told the interested group that their partnership and participation in this initiative are paramount to its success.

"As partners of Prince George's International! we expect to work closely with each of you expand relationships around the world and create jobs for Prince George's County residents," said EDC President Jim Coleman. "County Executive Baker is exactly right when he says that Prince George's County is the 'Gateway to the World'. With the growing number of international businesses and residents calling Prince George's County home, our focus needs to be ensuring that they are well-equipped to be successful in this region and throughout the globe."

The Prince George's International! global marketing initiative will consist of:

  • Growing international businesses located in Prince George's County.
  • Securing foreign direct investment into Prince George's County.
  • Attracting new businesses to relocate to Prince George's County.
  • Strengthening relationships with the trade attachés of embassies in Washington D.C.
  • Guiding our local & regional businesses on how to go global.
  • Supporting County international missions & visiting business delegations.
  • Promoting Prince George's County as a tourism destination and a great community to live.

Mr. Coleman also took this opportunity to announce the Economic Development Corporation's newly created China Business Center.  The China Business Center, located at the EDC headquarters, will offer Chinese based companies a successful launching pad to enter the United States market.  As more Chinese companies look to Prince George's County as a landing site, not far from the nation's capital, this turnkey solution will offer hands-on support and guidance to companies seeking to grow sales by selling innovative products and solutions to U.S. based companies and government agencies.
