PGCPS CEO & EDC President & CEO To Address YCC Summer Showcase

PGCPS CEO DR. KEVIN MAXWELL AND EDC PRESIDENT & CEO JIM COLEMAN WILL SPEAK AT PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY YOUTH CAREERCONNECT PROGRAM SUMMER SHOWCASE ON THURSDAY 

Obama Administration Initiative Highlights Student Performance and Business Collaboration

80 to 100 Parents, Youth and Business Owners to Attend

 

WHEN: Thursday, August 20, 2015, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

WHERE: Bladensburg High School Auditorium | 4200 57th Avenue | Bladensburg, MD 20710

WHAT: EDC President Jim Coleman and Prince George's County Public School CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell will attend and provide remarks at the Prince George's County Youth CareerConnect Program's Summer Showcase.  The Youth CareerConnect initiative is sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor in collaboration with the Department of Education, to strengthen America's talent pipeline by supporting stronger high school, post-secondary, workforce investment systems, and employer partnerships.  

At the Showcase, current YCC students who participated in the YCC Summer Employment Program will be acknowledged for their hard work, corporate sponsors will be acknowledged for the job opportunities they provided, and outstanding student leaders from each of the YCC school.  The focuses of the Showcase is to stress the importance of the YCC partnerships and the tremendous resources offered by the YCC grant to help Prince George's County students be competitive in the workforce and gain support to attend college.

Applicants must be students 9th through 11th grade students from Bladensburg, Fairmont Heights or Potomac high schools.
