Upper Marlboro, MD - Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III opened the County's newly created Department of Permitting, Inspections & Enforcement (DPIE).  The new Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is a one-stop, high-quality, customer-friendly experience for permit applicants, licensees, and property owners.  DPIE simplifies the permitting, inspection and licensing process, making it more timely and predictable for all stakeholders.

The core responsibilities of this new department includes issuing permits and licenses, conducting commercial and residential property inspections, and enforcing property standards in accordance with County codes. DPIE will use organizational transformation, process streamlining, technology enhancement, space reconfiguration, and performance measurement and reporting to create a national model for administering the economic development functions of permitting, plan review, construction inspection, code enforcement and business licensing.

"This is a tremendous step forward for this County and our quest to be the economic engine of the state.  This new department will help to streamline our processes and eliminate the shortcomings that have hindered us from moving business forward in the past,” said County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III.  “Our goal is to provide optimal services to residents and businesses.  DPIE was created to centralize resources, staff and put in place a permit process grounded in quality assurance in order for projects to move forward expeditiously."

The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is located at 9400 Peppercorn Place, Largo, MD, 20774.
