The International Business program at EDC aims to be responsive to global interests of the business community in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Proactively, the program supports and expands the efforts of EDC's International Business Strategy Committee to encourage and assist county businesses to expand with new and increased exports of their products and services throughout the world. Through this program, the county develops international trade and commercial relations with countries providing the best opportunities for county firms. The program also supports trade and commerce with the county's Sister Cities and Sister Regions; and foreign direct investment.

EDC's International Business program includes business recruitment; participation in foreign trade missions and reverse trade missions; hosts incoming delegations; and establishes priority in the development of target markets. EDC maintains relationships with other agencies and institutions such as the International Trade Division of Maryland's Department of Business and Economic Development (MD DBED), the US Small Business Administration (SBA/International), the World Trade Center Institute in Baltimore's harbor and the US Commercial Service, enabling it to leverage resources and to identify foreign trade and investment opportunities for county businesses.
